Before you rent a Land Rover in Dubai

  • Deposit. 12 of the 41 need no deposit, 19 list a refundable deposit of AED 2,000 and for the other 10 the company confirms it before you book. Under the RTA's unified rental contract (March 2026), the deposit must be refunded within the period stated in your contract, and the company can't charge fees it didn't disclose, such as toll surcharges.
  • Age and licence. Each rental company sets its own minimum age. Most ask for 25 for supercars and many luxury cars, some accept 21, and a few supercars need a licence held for up to five years. Residents need a UAE licence; visitors drive on their home licence if their country is on the UAE's approved list, and otherwise need an International Driving Permit.
  • Mileage. Most of these cars include 250 km a day; extra kilometres are charged per km.
  • Salik and fines. Dubai's Salik toll gates cost AED 4–6 per crossing before VAT, depending on the time of day. Tolls and any traffic fines are charged to you after the rental.
  • By the day, not the hour. Licensed rental companies in Dubai rent self-drive cars for at least one day. For a few hours, book a car with a driver instead.
